Training & Seminars
a) Technical Training
Two technical training programmes (six months each) in Machine Shop
Practice cum Fitter Trade were conducted at the workshop attached to
Branch SISI Bhiwani. 19 persons successfully completed the training.
b) Motivational Campaigns and Entrepreneurship Development
Programmes
One day Entrepreneurship Motivational Campaign was organised at panipat
wherein about 180 persons of various categories participated and
received information on PMRY scheme and other schemes and facilities for
self employment.
5 nos Product cum Process Oriented EDPs of one month duration including
one exclusively for women were conducted by the Institute wherein about
128 candidates in all participated. A revenue of Rs 33,715/- was
collected as participation fee.
c) Management Development Programme
4 nos short term Management Development Training Programmes were
organised by the Institute benefitting total 74 candidates in all.
Seminars/Workshop
The Institute organised number of such programmes for the benefit of
special group of industries as given below
a) One day Awareness Programme on ISO 9000 Quality System and TQM was
organised for the benefit of exporters of scientific instruments at
Ambala wherein 18 SSI exporters participated and a revenue of Rs 4,500/-
was collected as participation fee.
b) Another one day Awareness Programme on ISO 9000 Quality System and
TQM was organised at Bhiwani in collaboration with BTM, Bhiwani for the
benefit of SSI units at Bhiwani and nearby areas.
c) A 3 days training programme on 'Packaging for Exports' was organised
at Yamunanagar for the SSI exporters wherein about 20 SSI units
participated and a revenue of Rs 7,000/- was collected as participation
fee.
Modernisation Programme
Under this modernisation scheme an Inplant Study in respect of M/s
Mercury Rubber Mills, Rasoi, District Sonepat was conducted and the
major areas for improvement under modernisation highlighted in the
report.
Ancillary Development/Marketing & Export
i) A Plant Level Committee meeting (for ancillary development) was
arranged in respect of National Fertilizers Ltd Panipat to discuss the
problems of ancillaries and further development of ancillaries.
ii) To provide marketing support to the SSI units manufacturing quality
products 33 nos SSI units were recommended for Central Government.
iii) A number of export related queries were attended during the year.
SSI status of 10 units was verified and confirmed for Export Award.
Participated in the State Level Committee meeting and recommended SSI
units for Export Award.
Economic Investigation/Statistical Services
The State Industrial Profile was revised and rewitten covering all the
aspects of industries viz industrial policy, present setup and
achievements of the different sectors during the year as well as
industrial potentiality of the state.
Under the Action Plan 1997-98 District Potentiality Survey of Kaithal
and Sirsa districts were taken up.
Production data from 2% selected sample units and units selected under
the 18 reserved industries category numbering 35 and 72 respectively
continued to be collected regularly at quarterly intervals and submitted
to H.Q for further processing.
Assistance to DICs
The Institute maintained close liaison with all the DICs and actively
assisted them in different programmes. The officers were deputed for
attending TFC meetings for PMRY in all the DICs. The Institute certified
many policy related points and technical points whenever request
received from DICs. Respective DICs are involved in all the programmes
organised by SISI in different districts.
Assistance to SC/ST/Women Entrepreneurs etc.
30 candidates from SC category and OBC were directly benefitted from
EDP/MDP training programmes. Besides this 34 women candidates were also
trained. One month EDP was organised exclusively for women. During the
one day EDP motivational campaign around 15 SC and 31 women candidates
received guidance/ information.
Other Achievements
i) A Modernisation Guide on Brick Industry was prepared.
ii) Status report on Cement Industry in Haryana was prepared.
iii) 8 nos of applications for National Awards to SSIs 1997 were
scrutinised. The units were physically inspected and three units were
recommended for National Award.
iv) Meeting of State Level Advisory Committee was convened under
Commissioner Industries' chairmanship. Performance of SSI was reviewed
and discussion held to further imptove the working as well as to make
joint efforts by all developmental agencies.
