SISI Indore (MP)

Introduction

Small Industries Service Institute, Indore alongwith its 3 Branch SISIs at Raipur, Rewa and Gwalior and one Field Testing Station at Bhopal is working as an Extension/promotional agency for the development of small scale industries and catering to the needs of small scale entrepreneurs covering the whole of Madhya Pradesh with 45 districts.

Workshop Facilities/Testing, Jobs execute and Revenue Earned

The workshop attached to SISI, Indore, Branch SISI Rewa and Gwalior provided common facility services to the Industries. During the year 1998-99 the workshops executed 623 job orders benefiting 564 Small Scale units. The revenue earned out of the job-work was Rs. 4,40,479

The Field Testing Station at Bhopal tested 4694 jobs which was 104% compared to previous year, earning revenue of Rs. 5,57,516.

Technical Schemes Prepared/Blue Prints & other Literature Provided

The Institute prepared/updated 106 schemes on various items.

Consultancy Services Provided

During the year 1998-99, the SISI, Indore and its branch offices have provided assistance and consultancy to 6570 prospective new entrepreneurs. About 1275 entrepreneurs have been provided assistance and consultancy through various training and campaigns, details as given below.

Training and Seminars

EDP - SISI Indore has conducted 34 one month EDPs. There were 441 candidates who underwent training under the General EDP which comprised 44 SC, 12 ST, 103 OBC, 118 women. The Institute earned Rs 90,875 revenue during the year on conducting these programmes.

Motivational Campaigns - 13 motivational campaigns in different parts of the state were held. In these campaigns, about 834 people participated which consisted of 84 SC, 41 ST, 279 OBC and 145 women. The institute earned an amount of Rs 4200/- during the year.

MDP - 11 MDP were conducted and 272 people from different categories of society have been trained.

Export Training Course

- A 3 days training course on packaging for Export was organised by the Institute at Raipur in which 29 persons participated.

Modernisation Programme

SISI prepared a study report (Study of Cluster Group of Industries) on Readymade Garments. Similarly, one Inplant study was prepared on readymade Garments. A State Level Modernisation Committee Meeting was organised by the Institute at Indore.

Ancillary Development/Marketing & Export

The Institute organised State Level Ancillary Advisory Committee Meeting at Indore to decide the course of action for the Ancillary Development in the State.

Preparation/ updating of Directory of Ancillary Units registered with SCX

During the year 102 small scale units were registered under SCX. Against the annual target this Institute prepared / updated one directory of ancillary units registered with SCX. 102 units were registered under SCX and 5 project profile reports on ancillary units were prepared. During the year 1998-99, the Institute prepared 53 project profile reports comprising 27 profiles for new products and 26 profiles were updated.

Assistance to DICs

The Institute rendered assistance to the DICs in the State on policy matters, allotment of raw material and land, organising EDPs, attending Task Force Meeting etc.

Twelve Plant Level meetings organised

During the year about 144 DIC visits have been made for different tasks and officers of this Institute attended 49 PMRY Task Force Meetings. The Institute conducted one general EDP Programme at Ujjain for the PMRY beneficiaries in association with DIC Ujjain. In this programme about 35 candidated participated.

Achievements

a) Energy Conservation

The Institute conducted 3 programmes in the year

i) One day seminar cum training programme on Oil Conservation

ii) National workshop on Energy Conservation

iii) Workshop on Conservation of Petroleum products

b) Product & Quality Improvement

i) Two reports were prepared under quality control. On (1) Super Enamel Copper Wire and (2) Agricultural Implements.

ii) A unit was assisted on Quality Control.

iii) Confederation of Indian Industries Western Region organised a competition on quality Circles. Assistance was provided by the Institute in organising the programme as well as DD (Elect.) of of the Institute acted as a judge for adjudging of items.

iv) A report on Quality Control was prepared by Br. SISI, Gwalior in favour of unit at Gwalior.

v) Under Quality Control the Br. SISI advised a unit at Raipur for testing their product.

2) National Woman Self Employment Fair cum Exhibition at Jabalpur.

3) 3 days workshop on "New Dimension" in Management and Development of Small Scale Sector

4) Industrial Exhibition cum Seminar at Bhilaspur

5) A one day seminar on auto print/ mini offset industries

6) Two week programme on export marketing.
