SISI Cuttack (Orissa)

Introduction

SISI, Cuttack and its sub-ordinate offices at Rourkela and Rayagada equipped with techno-managerial expertise, provides consultancy services in the fields of chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Leather, Electrical, Electronics, Hosiery, Glass & Ceramics, Industrial Management, Economics & Statistics, etc. Common workshop facility services are rendered at Cuttack, Rourkela and Rayagada workshops. The Field Testing station, Bhubaneswar provides testing facilities to interested units against reasonable charges.

Workshop/Common Facility Services

The Workshops attached to SISI and its Branch offices namely at Khapuria, Cuttack, Rourkela and Rayagada provide various types of facilities in different fields during 1998-99. 622 jobs were undertaken in which 424 units benefited. The Institute earned a revenue of Rs. 295761/-.

Consultancy Services Provided

The consultancy Services provided include technical Managerial, Economic and Statisfiled and other service to 3328 prospective and existing entrepreneurs.

Training & Seminars

a) Training

i)Six EDP courses were conducted during the year 1998-99. A total number of 195 candidates were trained.

ii)Two motivation campaigns were organised during the year and 352 persons were trained.

iii) 8 MDP programmes were conducted in the year and 234 persons were trained.

b) Seminar/Meetings

Reconstituted Advisory Committee meeting was held at SISI, Cuttack under the Chairmanship of the Commissioner cum Secretary, Industries, Govt of Orissa. The other participants were Director of Industries, Orissa, Cuttack.

Modernisation Programme

The programme envisages the improvement of the performance of the small scale industries by upgrading their technology for better quality production to face the market with competitive prices within and outside the country.

Awareness cum Training Programme on Waste Minimisation

The awareness cum training programme on waste minisation was successfully completed, with 30 participants attending the programme.

Quality Control and Upgradation

One day workshop on role of RTC, Calcutta in the context of ISO 9000 was conducted at Cuttack in coordination with RTC, Calcutta, SISI Cuttack and OASME, Cuttack.
Ancillary Development

Under Sub-Contract Exchange Programme, 6 nos of SSI units registered during 1997-98 and 7PLAC meetings were held in the year.

Economic Investigation/Statistical Services

Industrial Potentiality Surveys were conducted and reports were prepared for the 6 districts of Jaipur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajpati, Kalahandi and Nuapada. Prepared State Industrial Profiles of Orissa and Market Survey Reports on various items.

Assistance to DICs

The Officers of the Institute alongwith DIC, conducted Joint Capacity Assessment for 6 SSI units of both developed and backward areas for the allotment of scarce raw materials from Govt. sources. The officers attended Task Force Meetings in different DICs for selection of SEEUY beneficiaries. Different EDP Courses and Motivation Campaigns organised by DICs were attended by the officers of this Institute.

Assistance to ST/SC/Weaker Sections Entrepreneurs

A total number of 161 were trained in EDP, MIP and skill development courses out of which 75 were women, 50 were SC, and 33 were ST and 3 were physically handicapped.

Energy Conservation

The Energy Conservation Programme specially in the field of Chemical, Ceramics and allied industries was held. The programme was attended by about 35 participants from ceramics, chemical and engineering industries.
