SISI Agartala (Tripura)
Introduction Small Industries Service Institute, Agartala became a fulfledged institute from December, 92. The Institute presently covers the whole State of Tripura consisting of three districts and the Branch SISI, Mizoram with its jurisdiction, also comes under the administrative control of the Institute. SISI, Agartala presently extends various technical consultancies and such other related services to the DI, DICs and small scale industries. The other expertise available in the Institute at present relate to Economic Investigation, Industrial Management Training, Chemical Leather and Mechanical. Blue Prints, Drawing, Technical Publications etc. Prepared and Supplied. The relevant Technical Publications brought out by the Institute, during the year relate to Technical schemes and such other technical literatures. The SISI prepared 3 Technical reports. A total number of 1268 existing and prospective entrepreneurs received the benefit of consultancy services provided by the Institute at different levels and different field namely, technical, economic and Statistical etc. during the year. The table shows the details of the consultancy services provided by the Institute during 1998-99.
Training and Seminars Training Prospective entrepreneurs, existing entrepreneurs and their skilled/semi-skilled workers often approach this Institute for information on training facilities on Technical lines available elsewhere in the country. The desired information were accordingly supplied to these people and whenever necessary, appropriate recommendations were also made to PPDC or NSIC and such other technical training Institutes. Advisory committee meeting attached with SISI, Agartala and Branch Aizawal was organised. Industrial Management Training For the development of the Managerial skills like production Management, Financial Management etc, Management Course was conducted during the year at Agartala. A total of 27 trainees, most of them existing entrepreneurs, were trained. Entrepreneurial Development Programme (EDP) The Institute, conducted various EDPs during the year 1988-99 in collaboration with the District Industries Centres of the State, with a view to motivate new entrepreneurs and also to promote entrepreneurial qualities of the prospective and identified entrepreneurs of the State of Tripura. During the year under reference 3 EDP courses were conducted for the beneficiaries of the SEEUY scheme. These programmes were conducted in collaboration with the DIC's. A total number of 75 beneficiaries were trained. Marketing and Export Necessary marketing support was extended to a number of SSI units by providing required information on Govt. purchase Policy. some buying organisations were also pursued for extending necessary support for extending necessary support to the SSI units in the State. The Institute involved itself in organising a seminar on export initiated by the State Directorate of Industries & Commerce in association with FIEO. Export associations and Chambers of Commerce have been kept in constant touch regarding dissemination of information on Export Policy. Economic Investigations/Statistical Services The work initiated was in relation to the State Industrial Profile of the State of Tripura. The Report has since been prepared. The spade work of a District Industrial Potential Study of the West Tripura District was also started during the year. These apart, time to time enquiries made by the State Directorate of Industries and its subordinate offices namely, the DIC's in relation to various economic/statistical data and other enquiries in relation to the Census and Sample Survey of SIDO units etc. were attended to as routine matter. Visitors existing and prospective entrepreneurs were also attended and economic information supplied accordingly as desired by them. Assistance to District Industries Centres The Institute continued to help District Industries Centre in selection of SEEUY beneficiaries. Assisted DICs in identification of potentially viable sick units and submitting the Transport Subsidy Report. Also assisted by providing project profile, list of Potential viable units. Thrust Industries etc. Advised on Policy matters from time to time. Special Assistance to Women Entrepreneurs, Weaker Sections The Institute put up its efforts towards assistance to ST/SC/Women/Weaker Section entrepreneurs to set up their own SSI units and also provided special preference to induct them in the training conducted by this Institute. The Institute condusted one EDP Motivational Campaign exclusively for ST community at Aizawl and one similar programme for women at Agartala. moreover, proportionate participation of the ST/SC, women and other persons from the weaker sections in SISI programes were taken care of. Altogether, 205 women, 58 ST, 31 SC and 78 OBC had been motivated and trained under EDPs. Other Activities Attended PMRY Task Force meeting regularly at DICs. Work relating to National Award to Oustanding Entrepreneurs completed. Attended the reconstituted Advisory Committee meeting attached to SISI, Agartala at Agartala |
