Andhra Pradesh speaks on coming Railway Budget 2008-09

R Velu, Union Minister of Andhra Pradesh for Railways ascertains its
people that the upcoming Railway Budget for 2008-09 would definitely be
a popular and a people friendly budget. However he refused to reveal
anything in relation to increase in fare or freight charges but he
ensured that soon to be released railway budget on February 25 in the
parliament would be in favor of common man.
When asked about the introduction of more Garib Rath trains, he said
that Ministry is thinking of connecting all the State Capitals with such
kind of trains in the coming times. The Garib Rath train that currently
runs between Bangalore and Secunderabad, would now be operating three
times in a week from Yeswantpur (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and
Secunderabad (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday).
Garib Rath offers AC class facility to the passengers at the most
economical rates and now the fares would be even 25 per cent lower than
the present AC3 tier fares. The coaches in the Garib Rath specially has
the tendency to carry about 78 passengers against the usual trains
consisting of 64 berths.
