Demands to include the introduction of non- stop trains in the upcoming Rail Budget 2008-09
(Feb 9, 2008)
The Rajasthan Samaj Railway Sangarsh Samiti presses the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to introduce non-stop trains from Bangalore and plan out direct trains from the city to Amritsar, Gaya, Jammu and Varanasi in the upcoming Railway Budget 2008-09.

Introduction of such non-stop trains connecting to places like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Goa and Hubli will not just spare the tremendous journey time, in fact it would even pull the passengers who travel through buses, explained samiti president Prakash Mandoth in a memo submitted to the Minister. He also said that Railways can even charge additional amount of 15 per cent are for these trains that will include sleeper and three-tier air conditioned coaches in equal numbers.

The samiti also brought forward the issue that in spite of the establishment of the South Western Railway (SWR), the railways connectivity between important cities and towns in Karnataka is still in a bad state. The state also lacks many inter-city trains that can enhance the connectivity between Bangalore and other cities/towns in the State. However, other neighboring states are facilitated with good connectivity solutions.
