Baggage Rules 1998

  1. Baggage consisting of used personal wear and used personal effects are invariably allowed clearance through the customs free of duty. In India in addition a free allowance upto a certain value is allowed depending on whether a passenger is coming from a neighboring country like Nepal/ Bangladesh/ Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
  2. In order to provide hassle free entry or exit to the passengers accompanied with baggage within perview of Baggage Rules, the Government has introduced Green channels. For others there are Rules to adhere to.
  3. In addition to above one can also bring in Bonafide household goods and personal effects as part of a passengers baggage. Samples of such items that are freely importable under the Policy may also be imported as part of Passengers Baggage without a License India. Exporters coming from abroad are also allowed to import Drawings, patterns, Labels, price tags, buttons, Belts, trimmings and embellishments required for export as part of their passengers baggage without a License.
